Alto de la Cruz is a red wine produced by Bodegas Alto Horizonte, the personal project of winemakers Aurelio García and Micaela Rubio, along with their other winery, Mikaela, in Cuenca.
You may already recognize the name Aurelio, as he is in charge of the Valquejigoso winery project in the Vinos de Madrid D.O. (Designation of Origin).
At Alto Horizonte, each plot of land is carefully cultivated to preserve its authenticity. They produce wines with Garnacha vines from Ávila that are over 80 years old, specifically in the Sierra de Gredos mountains. Its most distinctive characteristic is the altitude at which the vines are grown—1,150 meters—which imparts freshness to the wine, while the vines' maturity provides perfect balance.
A wine with a unique origin and winemaking process, offering notes of red fruit, ripe fruit, hints of spice, and wild herbs.
