Augustus Chardonnay 2022

Augustus Chardonnay is a white wine from the D.O. Penedès produced by the Augustus Forum winery.

This winery is located in El Vendrell (Tarragona), 3km from the Mediterranean Sea. Its vineyards are planted in the Pla del Mar, a place where vestiges of the Via Augusta, the road that in ancient times led to Rome, can be found. In homage to the millenary past of the place and in vindication of the tradition of its growing area, the winery has chosen the name Augustus Forum.

As its name suggests Augustus Chardonnay is a single varietal Chardonnay wine. The vineyards enjoy a special microclimate within the D.O. Penèdes thanks to the proximity of the Mediterranean Sea. The sea breezes contribute to the correct health of the grapes and to a certain extent to their good ripening.

For the elaboration of Augustus Chardonnay, the must ferments in French oak barrels from Nevers at controlled temperature. Malolactic fermentation is carried out in these same barrels and the wine is aged for 4 and a half months.
