The Oremus Tokaji Aszú 2016 - 5 Puttonyos is an exceptional dessert wine that comes from the Tokaj wine region, located in Hungary. This wine is made using a special technique called "aszú", which involves the manual selection of grapes affected by noble rot, also known as botrytis cinerea.
Botrytis cinerea is a fungus that dries out the grapes and concentrates the sugars, acids and flavors inside, resulting in a rich, sweet grape. These aszú grapes are carefully harvested and selected by hand, only those that have reached the right level of ripeness and sugar concentration are picked.
The name "5 Puttonyos" refers to the grading system used in Tokaj to determine the amount of aszú grapes added to the base wine. In this case, five "puttonyos" of aszú grapes are added per barrel of base wine. The greater the number of puttonyos, the greater the concentration and complexity of the resulting wine.
The 2016 Oremus Tokaji Aszú 2016 - 5 Puttonyos is known for its exceptional balance between sweetness and acidity. It has an intense, bright golden color, with seductive aromas of ripe tropical fruits, apricots, honey and floral notes. On the palate, it is rich and unctuous, with intense flavors of candied fruit, honey, caramel and spice. The refreshing acidity perfectly balances its sweetness, providing a complex and harmonious sensory experience.
This wine is a perfect accompaniment to desserts, especially those with intense flavors such as fruit tarts, cream cakes, crème brûlée and blue cheeses. It can also be enjoyed on its own as a tasting experience in its own right.
