Mar de Frades Finca Valiñas is an Albariño white wine produced in the Rias Baixas DO by the Mar de Frades winery.
The name Mar de Frades comes from the place where pilgrims used to disembark to continue their journey to Santiago de Compostela. Located in the heart of the Salnés Valley, in the Galician province of Pontevedra, this winery is in a special place. Impressive hillsides facing the Arosa estuary, directly influenced by the breeze. Since 1987, this winery has been carefully cultivating the crown variety of the Rias Baixas DO: Albariño.
Mar de Frades Finca Valiñas is made from 45-year-old vines located more than 125 meters above sea level. They use traditional agriculture and all the grapes are harvested by hand, with a double process of manual selection of the clusters to ensure that the best quality berries are used.
When the grapes arrive at the winery they are cold macerated in stainless steel tanks. Mar de Frades Finca Valiñas is periodically stirred with the finest lees for 3 months in barrels and 5 months in stainless steel. Finally, it ages for 6 months on its lees in new French oak barrels. It rests in the bottle before being marketed.
