Located about 10 km from Dijon, Gevrey-Chambertin is one of the most beautiful wine-growing villages in the Côte d'Nuits. In 1847, Gevrey-Chambertin was the first village in the Côte d'Or to join the name of the village to that of one of its Grand Crus, hence "Gevrey-en-Montagne" became "Gevrey-Chambertin".
Planted only with Pinot Noir, the whole hierarchy of Burgundy's appellations can be found here: to the north, the premiers crus and to the south, the grand crus. The village's appellations are concentrated at the foot of the hillside. The reddish-brown soils, sparse and stony, rich in limestone, give power and body to the wines of Gevrey-Chambertin, a great classic of the Côte de Nuits!
